A C. Plath Kriegsmarine Sextant is a precision naval navigation instrument manufactured in Hamburg, Germany, for the German Navy (Kriegsmarine). Known for its exceptional build quality and historical significance, these instruments are deeply prized by collectors as well as mariners looking for a high quality working sextant.

This instrument is in exceptionally good condition, equally valuable as a working sextant for another generation or two as it is a prized collector's treasure. See its use for lunar sights below.

The number 17873 on the arc is the C Plath serial number indicting that the manufacture date is about December, 1939 (based on a comparison with known models). The number 3293 on the arm is the Kriegsmarine issue number.

This instrument is in exceptionally good condition, equally valuable as a working sextant for another generation or two as it is a prized antique.

To show its value as a working sextant, we did two series of lunar distance measurements described online, which are considered the epitome of sextant sights.
